The Center of Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center) hosted an event in connection with September 27 - Remembrance Day. The event was attended by the Center’s staff and interns.
It began with a one-minute silence in memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan.
In his speech, Farid Shafiyev, Chairman of the Board of the AIR Center, discussed the new realities created in the region by the Second Karabakh War and the significance of these developments at both regional and global levels. Referring to President Ilham Aliyev’s address at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, he emphasized that Azerbaijan’s peace initiatives have been recognized and accepted by the international community.
AIR Center’s Senior Advisor Matin Mammadli, Head of Department Shahmar Hajiyev, and Leading Advisor Sultan Zahidov also spoke about the outcomes of the 44-day Patriotic War and the impact of Azerbaijan’s just position in the international arena.
The event further highlighted Azerbaijan’s adherence to international humanitarian law during the conflict, emphasizing that military operations were directed solely at legitimate military targets and not at civilians or civilian infrastructure. The necessity of abolishing territorial claims against Azerbaijan in the Armenian Constitution was also specifically noted.
