On April 16, AIR Center’s senior advisor Roza Bayramli participated in the II International Scientific and Practical Conference titled “The Contribution of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and Green Diplomacy,” held in Dushanbe with the support of the European Union.
In her speech, Roza Bayramli focused on the rapidly evolving partnership between Azerbaijan and Central Asia, as well as the strategic importance of Azerbaijan’s engagement in the C6 format, highlighting the need for coordinated efforts.
She noted that Azerbaijan-Central Asia cooperation, particularly in the energy sector, is entering into a qualitatively new phase and should be viewed not only through an environmental lens, but also as part of a broader geoeconomic transformation.
"Azerbaijan’s role in this process is steadily expanding, positioning the country as a key energy and infrastructure hub linking Central Asia’s growing “green” energy potential with the South Caucasus, the Black Sea region, and European markets. Initiatives such as the Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan- Uzbekistan trilateral format and the proposed “green energy corridor” across the Caspian Sea are laying the institutional foundations for this cooperation.
Roza Bayramli also highlighted that the complementary energy profiles of Central Asian countries create strong opportunities for collaboration. For instance, Tajikistan’s extensive hydropower resources, combined with Azerbaijan’s increasing capacity in solar and wind energy, could support the development of a broader regional energy network.
“In this context, Azerbaijan serves as a platform enabling Central Asia’s green energy to reach international markets, thereby strengthening interregional connectivity and fostering deeper economic integration,” she concluded.
