Relations between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. The Turkic World’s elevation

2024-03-25 15:28

AIR Center head of the department, Javid Valiyev’s article entitled “Relations between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. The Turkic world's elevation” was published in “Yeni Şafak.”

Touching upon the details of the visit of President of Kazakhstan Kasim-Jomart Tokayev to Azerbaijan, Javid Valiyev notes that all these steps are aimed at strengthening the Organization of Turkic States.

“The most important agenda of Tokayev's visit was the opening of the Children's Creativity Center, named after the famous Kazakh artist Kurmangazy, built and donated to Azerbaijan by Kazakhstan in the liberated Fuzuli. At the same time, during the visit, it became clear that the city hospital in Fuzuli would be constructed by Kazakh companies. Kazakh companies are expected to be more active in the restoration of the region. This is a manifestation of political trust in Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan relations. In the process of reconstruction of lands freed from occupation, Azerbaijan attaches importance to investments made by Turkic states. In fact, this is an indicator of the recognition of the sovereignty of Azerbaijan in the liberated lands by the Turkic states. Unfortunately, some countries cannot accept the newly emerged geopolitical realities. Some embassies are determined not to visit the lands liberated from occupation. In other words, the visit of Azerbaijan's allies to the lands freed from occupation and even active participation in the restoration processes are manifestations of legal, political, and moral support for Azerbaijan.”

Underscoring the important economic agreements signed between the two countries, J. Valiyev said that Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan relations developed rapidly after the Karabakh victory, and about 40 documents were signed in the past year and a half.

“There are other reasons for the rapid development of relations between the two countries. Along with the recent geopolitical changes, the growing importance of the Middle Corridor, Kazakhstan's search for an alternative energy export route, and growing need for Kazakhstan’s uranium have contributed to the relations between the two countries.”

The author also touched on the importance of Azerbaijan-Kazakh cooperation for Turkic geography and beyond.
