The Center of Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center) has prepared a joint report titled “Why are there no Azerbaijanis in the modern territories of Armenia?” in partnership with the Center for Eurasian Studies (AVİM).
The demographic landscape of the region today now known as the Republic of Armenia has been thoroughly analyzed in the historical overview section, mentioning the dramatic transformation of its ethnic composition in favor of Armenians. The statistical records have been provided in order to show how the predominant Azerbaijani presence has undergone a change.
The intensification of systematic Azerbaijani displacement and severe attacks were covered in the “Attacks and intimidation against Azerbaijanis” section.
“This pattern of intimidation was not an isolated
phenomenon but part of a broader, state-orchestrated effort to alter the
demographic composition of the region,” the report says.
The “Deportation of Azerbaijanis” section reveals the details of 4 stages of deportation.
The next section titled “Erasure of the cultural heritage” focuses on the widespread destruction of Azerbaijan’s historical, cultural, and religious heritage.
The final section discusses the legal frameworks enshrined in international conventions, concluding with a thesis that Azerbaijanis possess
the inalienable right to return to their homes.
