An international conference jointly organized by the Center of Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center) and ADA University titled "Along the Middle Corridor - Geopolitics, Security and Economy" was held on November 24-26, 2022 with the participation of more than 30 international experts. On the first day, conference participants met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov at ADA University. J. Bayramov informed them about the latest developments in the region and answered their questions. Next day, on November 25, the participants of the conference met with the President Ilham Aliyev. At the meeting, the head of state talked about the importance of the Middle Corridor in terms of the region’s development, the works implemented in that direction, regional processes, post-war peace-building and reconstruction works, and answered questions on various matters. During the second half of the day, international experts visited Baku International Sea Trade Port. Taleh Ziyadov, the Director-General of "Baku International Sea Trade Port" CJSC, informed the guests about the main role of the port, its purpose of becoming a logistics and transport center of the region, and pointed out that a significant increase in the volume of international cargo transportation was observed.
Rahman Hummetov, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan, touched upon the importance of the Zangezur Corridor in the context of international transport initiatives, and also reported on the restoration works carried out by Azerbaijan in the liberated territories with regards to the transport infrastructure. Conference participants also got acquainted with the operation principles of individual terminals, currently used means and types of loading and were informed about the technical capabilities of the ferries and the technologies applied to ensure prompt loading at the port.
On November 26, the guests visited the liberated city of Aghdam, where they were shown the Shahbulag fortress, built by Karabakh Khan Panahali Khan in 1751-1752, and witnessed the change of the historical appearance of the fortress as a result of the "restoration" works carried out by Armenia. The participants of the conference also got acquainted with the ongoing renovation and restoration works at the Aghdam Juma Mosque and the newly built Aghdam Conference Center. What is more, the experts who visited the Aghdam State Drama Theater and the building complex where the palace of Panahali Khan is located were informed about the urbicide and culturicide committed by Armenia during years of occupation.
