The Center of Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center) has published a book titled “Armenian Diaspora in the Middle East: History, Religion, Politics, Culture, Media, Education, and Social Activities.” (https://aircenter.az/uploads/BHZKzi9_0MUX.pdf)

Authored by the Center’s leading advisor, Lala Khalilzade, the book analyzes the historical context, key political, social, and cultural activities, spheres of influence, and potential opportunities of the Armenian diaspora in five Middle Eastern countries where the Armenian community is most widespread: Lebanon, Palestine, Syria, Egypt, and Jordan. It also explores the prospects and challenges the diaspora faces in the modern political and social landscape.

One of the key areas of focus is the media activity of the Armenian diaspora. The book comprehensively analyzes books, magazines, and newspapers published by members of the Armenian community in these countries, particularly their propaganda campaigns targeting Arabic-speaking audiences during the Karabakh war, as well as the information they disseminated regarding the so-called “Armenian genocide.” In addition to Arabic-language materials, sources in Turkish, English, Russian, Armenian, German, and French were used.

The author concludes that although the activities of the Armenian community in the Middle East have occasionally had a negative impact on bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and some of these countries, this impact was limited in nature. Overall, Azerbaijan’s relations with most Arab countries have continued to develop dynamically.

This publication serves as an important resource for researchers interested in the history and future of Azerbaijan’s relations with Arab countries, as well as the topics related to the Armenian diaspora.
