On April 22, 2025, a roundtable discussion titled "Normalization of Azerbaijan-Armenia Relations: A Look at History and Future Opportunities" was held at the Center of Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center), featuring prominent video blogger Albert Isakov. Farid Shafiyev, Chairman of the Board of the AIR Center, delivered a speech addressing the challenges and prospects associated with the normalization process. He stated that while Armenia and certain Western circles attempt to link the history of the Azerbaijan-Armenia conflict to the Sumgait events and promote various narratives, the remarks made by the first president of Armenia, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, during his address to members of the "Yerkrapa" terrorist organization regarding the occupation of the Azerbaijani city of Agdam on July 23, 1993, reveal the underlying truth.
F. Shafiyev also added that the intervention of third forces in the South Caucasus region is one of the main obstacles to peace.
Later, Azerbaijani-born video blogger Albert Isakov, who now resides in Canada, shared his thoughts on the causes of the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia and trends in the information space. He noted that during the 44-day war, Armenia spread manipulative, distorted information and that the Armenian public became victims of false propaganda.
“Looking to the future while utterly ignoring the past is impossible. We cannot disregard the past and treat it as an abstract event if we are discussing peace and the future," A. Isakov said.
Speaking about the revanchist initiatives and rallies that occur in the socio-political life of Armenia, A. Isakov added that official Yerevan should take tougher steps in this direction:
“Conditions should not be created under the guise of democracy for those who intend to spread distorted ideas about Azerbaijan.” The roundtable continued with a question-and-answer session.
