On December 3-6, in Brussels, the delegation of the Center of Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center) held meetings with EU officials, think tanks, CSOs, media organizations and young representatives of the Azerbaijani diaspora in Europe.
On December 5, the delegation led by the Air Center Chairman Farid Shafiyev, and also joined by the representatives of the Azerbaijani community of Nagorno-Karabakh, attended a roundtable on EU-Azerbaijan relations and Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict at the European Policy Center (EPC). Later, a meeting was held with the representatives of the Center for European Policy Studies (CEPS) to discuss opportunities for cooperation between the AIR Center and CEPS. The CEPS’ staff were also briefed about Azerbaijan's foreign policy, the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, as well as the EU-Azerbaijan relations and joint projects.
During the visit, Farid Shafiyev and Fuad Iskandarov, the head of the Azerbaijani delegation to the EU, also attended the 11th Annual Assembly of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum. Speaking at the event and answering the questions of civil society representatives from Azerbaijan, F.Shafiyev shared his thoughts about the negotiations on the next EU-Azerbaijan framework agreement. Mr. Shafiyev underlined that relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union had great potential due to numerous energy and transport projects.
On December 5, the delegation also met with the young representatives of the Azerbaijani Diaspora residing in various European countries. Farid Shafiyev and Tural Ganjaliyev, the head of the Azerbaijani community of Nagorno-Karabakh, urged the youth to actively advocate, - in the countries where they live, - for the national interests of Azerbaijan and for their concerns stemming from the occupation of 20% of Azerbaijan’s internationally recognized lands.
At the end of the visit, the delegation visited the monument dedicated to Khurshidbanu Natavan in the city of Waterloo.
