A delegation led by the AIR Center Chairman Farid Shafiyev visited Doha, Qatar. During the visit, a meeting was held on November 22 with Azmi Bishara, Director of the Center for Arab Studies and Political Studies. In the course of meeting Shafiyev said that Azerbaijan’s victory in the 44-day war, restored the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and put an end to the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict. He also noted that the settlement of the conflict has created a new opportunity to achieve lasting peace in the region. Azmi Bishara briefed about the current political processes in the Gulf region. The parties agreed to further develop cooperation and mutual visits between the two think tanks.
During the visit, meetings were also held with the leadership of the Center for Regional and International Studies at Georgetown University in Qatar. The parties agreed to conduct joint academic research on energy, environment, security and other regional and interregional issues, as well as mutual visits of researchers.
