The Center of Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center) has prepared a report about the 44-day war.

Authored by AIR Center’s Head of Department Vasif Huseynov, the report navigates the root causes leading to the war, the chronicle of the major processes, and the Trilateral Statement of November 10, as well as the international reactions in separate sections.

In the “Inevitability of the Military Option” section, V. Huseynov argues that there was a miscalculation in Armenia and the international community that Azerbaijan would never attempt to liberate its ancestral lands by military means. But there were precise conditions that made the war option inevitable. The first reason was the growing irredentist, aggressive rhetoric, and border provocations by the Armenian military-political leadership. Although in the early period of his rule Nikol Pashinyan portrayed a constructive image after consolidating his power, he abandoned these efforts and adopted a more radical, nationalist stance in the conflict.

According to the author, yet another factor making the military option inevitable was the lack of a necessary reaction from the international community to the aggressive acts of Armenia. Thus, the Minsk Group, which spearheaded efforts to find a peaceful solution between the parties, did not take any measures to prevent Armenia from aggressive rhetoric and acts and ignored Azerbaijan's calls to impose sanctions on the occupying state.

Other sections of the report explore insights into the major developments, concluding with the idea that the end of the war heralds the start of a new era not only for the two countries but also for the region as a whole.

To recap, the report is aimed at countering the provocative activities of certain state and international organizations, which lead a propaganda campaign against Azerbaijan by distorting the realities on the ground, thereby undermining peace and prosperity in the South Caucasus region.
